Polihale Beach is located at the very end of the road on the western side of Kauai island. This is an extremely long and beautiful beach that is capped on one end by the Na Pali Cliffs. Although this is a state park with a pavilion and picnic tables, the state or perhaps the county seem to do everything possible to discourage visitors. Roads are unimproved and barely passable. Signs warn of sharks and strong currents. Picnic tables and shelters are in poor repair. Still, if you manage to find it, Polihale is a beautiful beach to watch the sun set into the ocean. And, of course, it's nice to have it nearly all to yourself. Perhaps, keeping it un-maintained is a good thing. See our list of Kauai Beaches here. Pictures and Comments By Doug Porter |
