Aloha, Gary!!! THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to enjoy beautiful Kuhio Shores in your condo.... We really had a wonderful time and so appreciate your fantastic thoughtfulness as our "host"... we DID receive the deposit check yesterday in the mail... . and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Keoki's Paradise and sharing that super Hula Pie dessert with our "kids"... sunsets from the lanai, whales spouting right in front of the room, leisurely walks each morning to the Small Boat Harbor, easy access to Salt Pond, Lydgate Beach, Wiamea Canyon, Poipu Beach... seeing sea turtles and monk seals on the beach... AND coming back to Alaska with a wonderful dose of Vitamin D to see us through the winter!!!! ( The "late check-out" offer worked beautifully!... Thank you for that, as well!!!)

If you are looking for a condo with great views of the ocean, walking proximity to the beach for snorkeling, and being lulled asleep by the sounds of the waves…look no further than Kuhio Shores. We have rented at Kuhio Shores several times and have never been disappointed. Just watching the turtles alone is worth the price of admission. We currently are going to return to Kuhio Shores this year and are planning to bring our 13 year old grandson for his first trip to the islands. Unit 414 was available and we quickly booked it last July with Rick and Kathy. (Unit 414 is on the top floor and these are the most sought after units at Kuhio Shores.) Unit 414 is also a two bedroom that is beautifully appointed However, we received notice that they sold the unit in October to Gary and Marce. Gary was quick to contact us and let us know that our reservation was secure and everything was going to proceed as planned.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel because our grandson had a conflict with the dates we originally booked. I contacted Gary hoping that because we still had almost 90 days he would be understanding and return our deposit. Gary quickly responded to our dilemma by not only understanding that our grandson was the priority here, promised to return our deposit in full (it arrived within 3 days), and included a gift card to a local restaurant that he had planned to give us when we arrived on the island even though we wouldn’t be renting from him. I didn’t know that this level of kindness, flexibility, and hospitality still existed in our current society! My point in all this is that if you are wavering at all in working with a private owner to rent a condo, please don’t even hesitate to contact Gary. Gary is a responsive condo owner who will bend over backward to make your trip to his property a smooth success. And once you see the condo and the view of the ocean from the fourth floor of this property, Hawaii will do the rest.

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely condo with us! We had such a fabulous vacation, it could not have been better. The weather cooperated and we loved watching both the sunrise and sunset each day from the lanai. The turtles even came to say goodbye to us on Sunday morning. And lulling ourselves to sleep with the sound of the surf each night was wonderful. The only thing that we found missing in the condo was a kettle - my son has tea every morning. Other than that, everything was perfect, lovely decor and art.
We will definitely check out your vacation property in Carlsbad online. However, we are already saving our pennies for a return trip to Kauai!

First of all, I have been meaning to e-mail you and tell you how wonderful our Kauai experience was. Your condo was perfect, There was nothing , in my opinion, it lacked. The lanai was so nice, so many turtles, AND we did see a monk seal! There was a south swell that week and "PK's" was loaded with surfers from 6:30 in the morning until night fall. Fun to watch. It was especially fun for us because we got to watch our son surf, which doesn't happen often. If we are lucky enough to rent 414 again, the only item I would bring along to add to the perfection would be a pair of binoculars! Besides enjoying your beautiful condo, we kayaked and paddle boarded up the Wailua River, hiked to a waterfall, saw Waimea Canyon, saw the Napali Coast from Koke'e, went to Polihale for an afternoon ( I now know that you just let air out of the truck's tires to get back out if your stuck and then refill them), had shave ice at Jo Jo's, and, of course, the blow hole. We had wonderful dinners at Keoki's, Plantation Gardens, and Merriman's. We went to the farmer's market at KCC and spent two days at a baseball game (TS restaurants managers against a local team...TS lost.). I also enjoyed Koloa
You are so lucky to have such a fantastic place to go to. I envy you!

We really enjoyed our stay. I have been meaning to write and tell you so. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home away from home.
The week we were there, March 29- April 5, the winds were strong and there were occasional rain showers. While the chill in the air kept my husband and I from spending any time in the water, our boys, ages 7 and 9, were in daily. They loved exploring the tide pools and swimming in proximity of the seals who had come to the little beach next to the Beach House Restaurant to sun themselves.
We spotted countless sea turtles from the lanai and even saw one whale pass by! While these special treats were appreciated, the calm of the ocean was enough for us weary working parents. The maintenance people we saw on the property were friendly and we had no complaints/issues with the unit nor the building. (The outside door to your unit sticks a little and seemed to be off center).
It was the first time to Kauai for all of us, we had been to Maui and Oahu numerous times, and we appreciated the more rustic nature of the island.
We were moderately active this trip, enjoying the zip line experience (with Kauai Outfitters - excellent!), taking a helicopter tour with Jack Harter's helicopters and attending the Smith Family Luau. We love Lydgate beach, the beach at Salt Pond Creek and the one just east of Brennecke Beach. High on our list of achievements, we ate JoJo's Shave Ice in Wailua most days. We booked excursions through this website which future renters might also appreciate.
When we return to Kauai, we would strongly consider renting your place again. We would also recommend it to friends.
Thank you again,

Just wanted to take a moment and say thanks for
providing such a wonderful place for our vacation. We
travel to Hawaii every year and this was by far the
best place we have stayed at. This was our friend's
first trip to the Aloha State. Your place sure made a
great impression on them as well.
We had a great time watching the turtles come in to
feed every day. I was amazed to see how clearly you
could watch them from your balcony. Your place
proved to be the perfect spot, as it was central to
everything on the island. And as we like to snorkel a
lot, it was nice to be able to walk to one of the best
spots on the island.
Thanks again, and I'll be sure to give your place a
high recommendation to my friend when they plan their
I received the deposit check in the mail on Friday, thank you.
We had a wonderful time in Kuhio Shores 414, it was as nice as we remembered
it from last year. This year we were able to get all three kids (my 6-y.o.
girls and 8-y.o. son) out snorkeling to see the sea turtles, that was a real high point for us.
But everything was nice - dinner at Roy's, dinner at the Beach House, snorkeling all over the island, playing in the water, Waimea Canyon, etc. And my mother-in-law loved the view and sound of the ocean from the condo.
So, thank you again, we had a wonderful time.
