Guest Comments:

Rick and Kathy,
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely condo with us! We had such a fabulous vacation, it could not have been better. The weather cooperated and we loved watching both the sunrise and sunset each day from the lanai. The turtles even came to say goodbye to us on Sunday morning. And lulling ourselves to sleep with the sound of the surf each night was wonderful. The only thing that we found missing in the condo was a kettle - my son has tea every morning. Other than that, everything was perfect, lovely decor and art.
We will definitely check out your vacation property in Carlsbad online. However, we are already saving our pennies for a return trip to Kauai!
~ Jacki Steenken
Hi Rick and Kathy,
First of all, I have been meaning to e-mail you and tell you how wonderful our Kauai experience was. Your condo was perfect, There was nothing , in my opinion, it lacked. The lanai was so nice, so many turtles, AND we did see a monk seal! There was a south swell that week and "PK's" was loaded with surfers from 6:30 in the morning until night fall. Fun to watch. It was especially fun for us because we got to watch our son surf, which doesn't happen often. If we are lucky enough to rent 414 again, the only item I would bring along to add to the perfection would be a pair of binoculars! Besides enjoying your beautiful condo, we kayaked and paddle boarded up the Wailua River, hiked to a waterfall, saw Waimea Canyon, saw the Napali Coast from Koke'e, went to Polihale for an afternoon ( I now know that you just let air out of the truck's tires to get back out if your stuck and then refill them), had shave ice at Jo Jo's, and, of course, the blow hole. We had wonderful dinners at Keoki's, Plantation Gardens, and Merriman's. We went to the farmer's market at KCC and spent two days at a baseball game (TS restaurants managers against a local team...TS lost.). I also enjoyed Koloa.
You are so lucky to have such a fantastic place to go to. I envy you!
Aloha and Mahalo,
~ Elizabeth Mahoney
We really enjoyed our stay. I have been meaning to write and tell you so. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home away from home. The week we were there, March 29- April 5, the winds were strong and there were occasional rain showers. While the chill in the air kept my husband and I from spending any time in the water, our boys, ages 7 and 9, were in daily. They loved exploring the tide pools and swimming in proximity of the seals who had come to the little beach next to the Beach House Restaurant to sun themselves.
We spotted countless sea turtles from the lanai and even saw one whale pass by! While these special treats were appreciated, the calm of the ocean was enough for us weary working parents. The maintenance people we saw on the property were friendly and we had no complaints/issues with the unit nor the building. (The outside door to your unit sticks a little and seemed to be off center).
It was the first time to Kauai for all of us, we had been to Maui and Oahu numerous times, and we appreciated the more rustic nature of the island. We were moderately active this trip, enjoying the zip line experience (with Kauai Outfitters - excellent!), taking a helicopter tour with Jack Harter's helicopters and attending the Smith Family Luau. We love Lydgate beach, the beach at Salt Pond Creek and the one just east of Brennecke Beach. High on our list of achievements, we ate JoJo's Shave Ice in Wailua most days. We booked excursions through this website which future renters might also appreciate.
When we return to Kauai, we would strongly consider renting your place again. We would also recommend it to friends.
Thank you again,
~ Andrea Almeida Mack
Rick and Kathy,
Thank you for the deposit check, which we just received. We had a wonderful time at your Kuhio condos. The turtles greeted us daily, the full and long-lasting rainbows were to die for, and our last night was punctuated by a green flash as the sun set. The really good news is that the virus the turtles displayed a few years ago seem to be much diminished; we saw only a small turtle with evidence of the growth on its neck...and we saw lots of turtles during our 10 days at several different snorkeling spots. And Colleen's skill at transferring us between condos was impressive.
Hope you're enjoying the great weather in San Diego!
~ Carol & Steve
We have been swamped since returning home and I had planned to write to you quickly. I think we took over 1000 photos. The wedding was on the lawn of the beach house restaurant and the reception was at Joe's on the Green. We sailed with Captain Andy up to the Na Pali coast, drove to the canyon, snorkeled at the Beach House Beach, rode horses at the CJM ranch, drove to the north shore to check things out. Most of all we loved the lanai and watching the waves and the turtles.
Your condo was wonderful. We ate a lot of meals on the lanai, especially our early morning coffee. It was wonderful to have an ice maker and all the other special touches. The beach closet was wonderful. We brought our snorkeling items but supplemented them with the fins, etc. The chairs were great as well. I loved the balcony looking at the mountains as well. I could check out the day by getting out of bed.
My brother-in-law wanted to mention that the fan in the hall bathroom did not work. That was the only apartment issue we found. We loved to read the comments of prior guests. We are sorry we were not there at whale time.
We had rain at night and only one daytime shower fairly early in the day. Other than that the clouds and the sky was stunning. We did leave around 1:30 on Thursday to fly to Oahu. We had a coupon for a Marriott on Waikiki beach. Certainly different over there.
This is probably a once in a lifetime trip for us - our budget in retirement won't allow this kind of travel. However, we will tell everyone about your wonderful place and certainly will recommend Kuhio Shores #414 to anyone we hear might come your way.
We tried to take good care of everything and are grateful to find a clean, special place.
Since the wedding people stayed at Kuhio Shores as well and left early they brought us lots of left over stuff. We did leave pop, wine, and unopened grocery items with a note. I hope someone enjoyed our surplus.
Thanks again for your good advice on the book to read, the car rental information and the delightful experience.
Rick and Kathy,
We really enjoyed our stay on Kauai -- the view of the ocean from your condo is absolutely wonderful! A couple of days were rather rainy, thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Felicia, but we still had a great time. We explored most of the island and were amazed by the wide variety of trees, flowers, foliage, birds (and chickens), etc. -- we enjoyed the scenic drive to Waimea Canyon and the spectacular views of the Na Pali Coast from the Kalalau lookout and the Pu'uokila lookout; we went as far as Highway 50 would take us on the East shore; we saw Opaeka Falls and took the road as far as it went toward Mt. Wai'ale'ale (so that we could say we were only a few miles from the wettest spot on earth!); we took Highway 56 to its northern-most point, past Hanalei, Princeville, and Ha'ena (and visited the lighthouse along the way); we went to a luau at Smith's Tropical Paradise. We also had some great meals -- breakfasts at Kountry Kitchen, Kalaheo Cafe & Coffee Co., and the Grand Hyatt golf course; lunches at Pacific Pizza & Deli, Hanalei Dolphin, and Puka Dogs, and dinners at the Beach House, Roy's, Keoki's Paradise, and Cafe Portofino.
It's a long way from Oklahoma to Kauai and back, but it was worth it and we hope to visit Hawaii again soon. Thanks for mailing our deposit check, and thanks for the information about the condos in California.
~ Darrell & Myrna Latham
Aloha Rick and Kathy,
I have been meaning to write and thank you for sharing your beautiful condo with us! We had a wonderful time on our first trip to Kauai, and much of that was our experience staying at Kuhio Shores. I have to say I was a bit afraid of being too hot since I can't imagine not having an A/C and it being 104 degrees in Dallas. But I admit it was SO pleasant (as you said it would be) and I even got a bit chilly sleeping at night - perfect! We really enjoyed sitting on the lanai watching sea turtles and surfers during the day and the stars at night. (I can't remember the last time I've seen the Milky Way!) Oh - and I can't forget to thank you for the bottle of wine and glasses chilling in the refrigerator upon our arrival. We certainly enjoyed that! Your instructions were super easy to follow and we had no problems checking in. It was also a nice touch that your housekeeping lady called to check on us to see how things were going, what time we were checking out, etc. I told her the freezer condensation was dripping into the refrigerator, and she said she would report that to you. It wasn't a problem at all, and I just put a pot under the drip.
And we went to the Beach House twice for dinner. What an amazing restaurant!! I will definitely recommend your units to friends who plan to visit Kauai. Mahalo!
~ Kristen
P.S. The wireless Internet access was a nice touch as well - especially because we left our 20-month old at home and were able to use our Webcam to see and talk to him.
We did have a wonderful time in Hawaii and your condo was very nice to stay in. The beds were comfortable and that is something we don't see often in our travels. Seeing turtles every minute of the day playing in the surf is a treat that your condo was able to deliver. We also enjoyed watching the surfers, dolphins, etc. go by. This is our second trip to the complex and our fourth overall to Kauai. The weather in May was nice and allowed us to go scuba diving at Nihihau. That was the highlight of our trip as we saw a monk seal, manta ray, eagle ray, white tip shark, and got to snorkel with a school of dolphins. We ate in most ever day except for our splurge at the Beach House. They sat us in the most perfect spot to watch the sunset and the food was great. It is so nice that it is right next door.
~ Cheryl Eagan
Rick and Kathy
Great trip, wonderful condo; we are already thinking of a return trip. I could have spent every day on the lanai watching the turtles; they were amazing. You can count on me as a referral.
~ Jean
Our vacation was wonderful and Kauai was beautiful. The condo was perfect for us and we particularly enjoyed the view from the lanai. Most evenings we were treated to many sea turtles,, during the day there were whale sightings, and once a school of dolphins. Having the beach chairs and cooler were great for our days at the beach. If anyone ever wants a reference we would be happy to provide.
~ Bob
Dear Rick and Kathy,
Thank you for the use of your beautiful condo. It was well equipped with everything that we needed. The view was wonderful, we saw numerous sea turtles every day just floating in the surf right in front of your condo. We traveled to numerous beaches including the ones up north and I have to say that one of our favorites was right next door on the other side of the building. Great snorkeling and beautiful sunsets, it doesn't get much better than that. Our parents who are retired and have never been to Hawaii were in awe of the gorgeous flowers, plants and scenery. They were staying in a different condo on the third floor with our 17 and 19 year old sons. This was a dream vacation for them and we were all too happy to show them the sights and do some of the typical touristy things like a luau at Smith's. I personally think the Sheraton puts on a better luau and it's a lot closer to home.
Aloha Rick and Kathy,
We had a wonderful time in Kauai, the condo # 414 is well equipped, quiet, clean, and the location is second to none, We have been to the Caribbean some 20 times many of which at ocean front locations, they all pale in comparison to your unit, why you ask... Each day began on the Lanai (veranda/deck as we call it) with a cup of coffee and at the end of day with a cocktail as we watched those wonderful tropical sunsets. I must say it's more than an exceptional view, almost hard to explain, but, we found it both soothing and very relaxing near mesmerizing, the constant sound of the surf, the daily turtles, every few days dolphins, entertaining surfers, and the rustle of the tropical palm leaves directly in front; missing it already. The island has so much to offer for sightseeing, one can be as busy or not if you wish. In our two weeks we managed to visit many of the beaches, and left enough for another visit. The Na Pali coast is spectacular; no wonder Hollywood chose Kauai for so many motion pictures. The Kauai people are both friendly with a warm personality, I agree with Conde Nast magazine each year giving the Kauai people top marks for friendliness. Several times as we were out and about someone would wave and offer a smile.
I have seen the statement "A house is a place to store furniture" "A home is a place to store memories"; my wife and I have fond memories thanks to you we felt at home in Kuhio Shores. We will most definitely be returning, and we would like to tell everyone your condo is the place of choice.
~ Glenn and Ann McMillan
Hi Rick and Kathy
I just wanted to thank you for renting us your wonderful condo at Kuhio Shores. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The whales were particularly active and we enjoyed watching them from the lanai. There was also a monk seal that loved wallowing in the sand on the nearby beach almost every day.
Everything at the condo was so crisp and brand new and decorated beautifully.
Thanks again and I will definitely recommend your condo to my friends who plan to travel to Kauai.
~ Rhonda Lubberts
Just wanted to say mahalo for the use of your unit 414! We had an absolutely wonderful week there. We saw three whales from the balcony the first afternoon, dolphins another afternoon, and sea turtles every day. We snorkeled several times from each side of the building, twice out past the break and twice closer to the building, where we saw 10-15 turtles sleeping and swimming. And of course more fish than we could count. What a treat!
We also had a wonderful dinner at the Beach House (we were unable to make a reservation with short notice but were able to walk in), and another at Roy's. I want to compliment you on your choice of mattresses - those are the most comfortable beds I have slept on in a long time!
~ Ann Thank you again.
Aloha Rick,
What a wonderful experience we have all had on your island paradise and your condo. Your condo is everything that it was said to be, simply put beautiful.
Your condo was beautiful I hope and pray that you find it in one piece. I do not know of one broken item. We left another boogie board for you and a couple of beach umbrellas. Certainly if you do not wish them you can discard them.
We had a delightful time on Kauai. Ours kids all went ATV to many waterfalls, Copter tours, we all went on a Sunset Cruise with Captain Andy and many more things. But none of the items that we did ,none of the fun side trips and tours can even compare. Although each were fun they didn't compare to simply sitting upon your lanai and watching the turtles play in the surf, or watching a monk seal get comfortable on the beach next door.
You have been bless by a wonderful selection in property and we all hopefully will be allowed to return and enjoy it once again.
~ denny Johnston
Hi Rick--
We had an awesome time in your condo. It turned out that two women from my church (Rhonda Lubberts and Mary Jane Pories) stayed in the exact condo in February of this year. We saw their entry in the journal book you left for guests and got a kick out of that. We saw them last Sunday at church and had fun chatting with them about our trips to Kauai!
My husband is going on a business trip to Chile in August for two weeks and I was kidding him about a trip to Hawaii in 2006 because he will be away for our anniversary. He actually told me that he would love to go again, so now we are planning another trip next year, likely in June. I can hardly wait to go back.
Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your condo on Kauai. We really enjoyed it and I look forward to another visit in the future!
Best wishes,
~ Leslie
We had a GREAT time in your condo!!! Could you get any closer to the ocean? Everyone thought the chilled champagne & glasses on our arrival was a very nice touch. Hope to do it again soon. Zero problems.
~ Aloha..........Chris & Judy Busch
Aloha Rick!
Although we have stayed in Kauai several times we have always stayed in a hotel - never again!!! The condo changed the entire experience. The beauty of the location and the condo itself was overwhelming!! I think my heart skipped a beat when I first opened the door and saw the living area and the view! We were able to enjoy breakfast every morning on the lanai before preparing for the beach or shopping! I would certainly recommend it to friends and relatives unless it's at a time we want to stay there:) Thank you so much for sharing a part of your life with us and for making our lovely Kauai experience the best ever! We will return!!!
~ Mahalo, Michele and Allen Woolf
P.S. We did receive the deposit refund - mahalo again for being so prompt!
Hi Rick & Kathy,
Just wanted to take a moment and say thanks for providing such a wonderful place for our vacation. We travel to Hawaii every year and this was by far the best place we have stayed at. This was our friend's first trip to the Aloha State. Your place sure made a great impression on them as well.
We had a great time watching the turtles come in to feed every day. I was amazed to see how clearly you could watch them from your balcony. Your place proved to be the perfect spot, as it was central to everything on the island. And as we like to snorkel a lot, it was nice to be able to walk to one of the best spots on the island.
Thanks again, and I'll be sure to give your place a high recommendation to my friend when they plan their trips.
~ Karl
Rick and Kathy,
I received the deposit check in the mail on Friday, thank you.
We had a wonderful time in Kuhio Shores 414, it was as nice as we remembered it from last year. This year we were able to get all three kids (my 6-y.o. girls and 8-y.o. son) out snorkeling to see the sea turtles, that was a real high point for us. But everything was nice - dinner at Roy's, dinner at the Beach House, snorkeling all over the island, playing in the water, Waimea Canyon, etc. And my mother-in-law loved the view and sound of the ocean from the condo.
So, thank you again, we had a wonderful time.
~ Ann Almgren
Rick and Kathy:
Please add the following to your guest comments for Unit #414.................Dear Rick and Kathy.........thanks so much for allowing us the opportunity to share your condo in paradise..........this was our 8th trip to Kauai and was the best so far.........a well-appointed unit, great views, turtles, dolphins and the ever present trade winds........we caught sunset one night from the Beach House, snorkeled in the coves on both sides of Kuhio Shores and just enjoyed the peace and have done a great job - we look forward to our return in 2007..........Jim and Linda - Penngrove, CA (06-28-06)
Rick and Kathy, thank you so much for your hospitality at Unit 414,. Kuhio Shores. What an amazing place! Now that I'm back at work I find myself daydreaming about the sound of the surf, the sea turtles, the mountains. We'd never been to Hawaii before and debated whether to island hop. We all feel we made the right decision to spend all of our time in Kauai and we can't wait to go back. I wanted to see more waterfalls and my family wanted to do more sunbathing....tough choice, huh? Everything was great. Burnt out bulb next to the bed in master bedroom needs replacing, just so you know. Thanks! Will definitely recommend this unit to our friends.

Unfortunately, we have arrived home from Kauai. We loved Kauai and Kuhio Shores. Each time we arrived back @ the condo, we appreciated the location even more. We met great friendly people out on the lawn each night, most from So Cal. We enjoyed Kauai more than Maui (just needed more time.) Our son surfed every day @ PK's and had a great time, even though he had to rent a board. The condo was great - no problems.
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!
Mahalo! ~ Julie Shelton and Family
Aloha Rick & Kathy
We want to tell you what a wonderful time we had in Kauai. Staying in your condo really made the trip extra special. We appreciated that the unit was well-stocked & had everything we could have wanted during our 2 week stay. The renovations to the unit are tastefully done & we loved all the tropical decor. The beds & pillows were very comfortable, so along with the tropical breezes & sound of the surf, we slept really well! We spent many hours on the lanai watching all the ocean activities. Some days, we found it difficult to pull ourselves away to do touring & exploring -- we were afraid we'd miss something! The whales were particularly active while we were there.
Thank you for the bottle of Champagne-- that was a nice welcome! We hope to be back to Kauai someday. We will certainly recommend your condo to friends.
~ Mahalo,
Wayne & Jackie Schuster
Thank you so much for being so organized. The contact info and the map were very helpful and your unit is beautiful. It was such a pleasure to stay there. I was with my stepfather attending my niece's wedding. It made our trip comfortable to stay in a 2 bedroom place rather than in two separate hotel rooms. We had a nicer time together. And, as you described, the view was spectacular.
I've told many people about your website and will always speak in high regard. Oh, by the way, Kauai wasn't half-bad either.
~ Thanks again. Valerie
We have just (reluctantly) returned to the mainland and wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your Kuhio Shores condo, #414! The fresh orchids and champagne were truly a special touch. The whales were quite active during our stay, and we spotted numerous spouts every day. Snorkeling was great - the numerous sea turtles were really a treat, and we were even fortunate enough to see a monk seal on Lawai beach! Your location was simply the best. Thanks again for your generous accommodations and being a part of a most memorable vacation!
~ Susan Strate and Patrick Fox
Aloha to you...

We had a wonderful time in Hawaii and the stay at your condo was great! I am so glad you have a guest book in the room, when I read that other visitors had seen turtles from the lanai (which we spent every spare moment watching the waves and surfers and enjoying the sound of the waves and ocean breeze) we then realized that there is in fact turtles swimming there regularly! What a joy, we had binoculars and cameras on them easily.
Another wonderful moment was when my sister in law and I were sunning ourselves on the grass by the side of the Beach House Restaurant and a monk seal came up on the black rock to do the same! He must have layed there for 3 hours turning every once in a while and looking as happy as we were to be in the Hawaiian sun! We got lots of great photos of him too. Unfortunately the guys were out golfing (which they loved including the rate at the municipal course of $40) and missed the close up view we had with the seal's visit.
With all this said, we will be back someday to visit the island and will contact you again at the resort, it was beautiful, spacious and a great location. I received the $350 deposit back in the mail and appreciate your promptness, sometimes we wonder when doing business through the internet, but this was perfect.
Thank you so much for the champagne welcome! We had to use a wine glass since there were only 3 champagne glasses in the room (didn't know if you were aware of this so I thought to mention it) but this was a special surprise!
Again, thank you for your hospitality, honesty, and sharing of your beautiful condo at Kuhio Shores #414. If you have a web site for comments we would love to add complimentary notes for others when considering your condo.
~ Gerri & Ernie Barten

Dear Rick and Kathy,
We had a wonderful time in Kauai and really enjoyed staying in your condo. The furnishings were really nice. We really liked all the turtles. We tried to find something like them to bring home but didn't have any luck. However, we waited till our last day to shop. There were too many other things to do. Thanks for the champagne - that was a nice touch. We mixed it with some Gog and that made a tasty drink. It was really exciting to be able to see the turtles swimming from our balcony and to watch the surfers. You were definitely right when you said we could hear the ocean from our bedroom. There were times when we had to close some of the windows to soften the sound. We would definitely rent this condo again.
The boat excursion around the Napali Coast was probably our highlight. We went on a small catamaran - we saw spinner dolphins and more turtles, did a little snorkeling and had a really nice sandwich buffet lunch. We also enjoyed the Smith Family Luau. Of course, we ate too much. The show was really nice (the seating was a little uncomfortable). There was some great snorkeling at Tunnels beach. We were enthralled with the beauty on our two mile hike on the trail along the Napali coast to the first beach. Our drive up and down Waimea Canyon was really nice to. The last stop views were awesome and the sunset was beautiful as we drove down. We would love to go back and hike some of the trails.
We had a layover in LA and the plane was packed, so we gave up our seats and got four free tickets so maybe we'll take you up on the California condo.
Thank you for letting us enjoy your condo. If you wish to use any of our comments, please do so. We hope to be back some day.
~ Doug and Sharolyn
I received my security deposit along with your note. Thank you for the use of your condo...we had a wonderful vacation in Kauai. Your place was just perfect for my family. Everyday we would spot the sea turtles from the lanai, and most evenings we opted to cook a meal so we could just stay and enjoy the view and comfort from your condo.
We found the best snorkeling at Ke'e beach up north, and boogie-boarded at Poipu beach. The views of Kauai were spectacular. We also enjoyed the National Tropical Botanical Garden just down the road. We brought home great memories of our trip.
~ Thanks, Linda
Dear Rick & Kathy:

Thanks so very much for sending the deposit refund - I'll be watching the mail for it ;-)
Yes, we had a WONDERFUL time at your Poipu condo... the place was just perfect. The decorations, art, and furniture was beautiful and everything was very comfortable. The view from the lanai was just incredible - from the moment we arrived we could see many sea turtles at the edge of the rocks getting their dinner... the water was so warm and clear, I must agree with one of your other guests that the water rivaled trips to the Caribbean. There were so many hundreds of colorful fish right off the beach in front of the Beach House restaurant... we snorkeled there quite often.
Having plenty of beach towels & the coolers there came in so handing when exploring the other beaches (we each brought our own snorkeling gear)... loved the Koloa Town; nice grocery store there and cute shops.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with me, my husband & two teenage boys - they loved hanging around the lawn by the Beach House watching the surfers and all the cute "chicks". It was a very relaxing and memorable family vacation for us, and we hope to return to Kauai again soon... our favorite Hawaiian island! (The Kauai ATV trip was a blast!!)
thanks again so much,
~ Mahalo & Aloha, Mrs. Lisa Weitzmann
Aloha Rick and Kathy,
We had a wonderful time at your condo as always. It's just the perfect place to spend a vacation and I have been telling all of my friends about your place. This time we hiked the Na Pali Coast to the waterfall. It was quite an adventure and a fantastic workout. The weather was perfect and we really didn't want to leave. Thank you for having us as your guests. We really appreciate you opening up your home to us.
~ Sincerely, Jane Nielsen
Aloha Rick & Kathy,
I was planning on sending you an e-mail today. I'm now just getting back on Chicago time!!
We had a wonderful time in Kauai. Just not enough time. Although, we managed to take in the catamaran tour of the Napali coastline, the Smith Luau, the Zipline at Princeville Ranch, the Waimea Falls & Canyon, snorkeling, shopping and dining at some very good restaurants. We were busy out but truly enjoyed our time at the condo. It was very comfortable and accommodated all of our needs. The beds were great. My nephew even said the futon was pretty comfortable. The updating/decorating you have done is lovely and I really enjoyed working in the kitchen! One can't say enough about the view from the lanai. It is spectacular and you can find yourself just sitting there for hours! I was truly impressed with the cleanliness of the unit and also the complex.
All-in-all, we had a fantastic time and having a great place to stay in added to our enjoyment!
Thank you for renting your home out to us and I will watch for the deposit check in the mail.
~ Mahalo,
Nancy, Marissa & Eric from Chicago
Aloha Rick & Kathy,
We had a wonderful time in Kauai. What a paradise, we had no idea what Kauai was like so we were so pleasantly surprised. We traveled to Kauai for our wedding (on Baby's Beach), which turned out perfectly thanks to Kauai's wonderful surf, skies and sand. We actually had guests staying in your two condos, while we stayed in another one in Kuhio Shores as well. Our guests loved the condos, they were so beautifully decorated and the views of course spectacular. We enjoyed watching the turtles, seeing the monk seal come ashore and we even saw a couple of sting rays.
The only complaint we had from our guests was the lack of air conditioning (for sleeping). In our other condo, we didn't find we needed it, but I guess it just depends what kind of breeze you get through your bedroom windows. But that was the only concern we heard about.
Thank you so much for use of your homes in paradise. When we return to Kauai, we will have you at the top of our list for accommodation.
~ Mahalo, Gary and Andrea Picardo
We had a wonderful time at #414. We have told several others about it, and we plan to rent it from you again. We have been to Kauai several times, but this was the BEST place to stay. The views were fantastic, and the sunsets incredible. The turtles swam below us, and the whales frolicked just off shore. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been nicer. Great dinner at the Beach House, better dinner at Roy's.
A highlight? After a couple of Mai Tai's, we were sitting out on the lanai with our friends (Bernie and Darlene), and we saw a school of incandescent fish! A whole small area lit up with an amazing blue light, which brightened and darkened with bubbles as the fish swam up and down, swam together and swam apart. Then we saw another school. Soon there were about four schools of fish, four areas of blue lights! It was incredible. We watched and watched in awe. B & D had seen some fluorescent fish in the tropics, but Lynn and I had never seen this. Well, you guessed it, unfortunately, our joy was destroyed when we noticed that one of the schools had a beam of light. No, it wasn't Captain Nemo, just four nocturnal snorkelers.
It didn't spoil the magic, though. We'll be back!
Thanks again.

Aloha Rick and Kathy!
Thanks for the reply. We had a wonderful time in your condo! First, we arrived about 9PM after about 24 hours of traveling. We ended up leaving NY the evening before our scheduled flight to avoid an ice storm coming in. We spent the night in Chicago, and a good thing as our flight ended up being canceled. We didn't have time to shop our first evening there. The Champagne was a welcome site..Thanks! The weather was perfect, 80, sunny and breezy every day. The sites from the lanai were terrific! The turtles amused us every day, I think we saw sea lions one afternoon, and lots of whales. We did some snorkeling right out front with the turtles a few times, and took pics on one of the adventures. We did the usual site seeing, but always looked forward to returning to the condo to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. My wife bought more jewelry up at the vendors by Spouting Horn, (she bought some there last time too!), and of course had our few visits to Puka Dogs! Lots of beach time and good food. We are envious of the owners of the Kuhio condos, and feel it is one of the best locations in Hawaii.
Thanks again, and we totally enjoyed our stay.

We had a great time on our vacation and enjoyed being able to constantly hear the ocean's waves from the condo. We loved to sit on the lanai and watch the turtles and surfers. The snorkeling right next door was probably the best on the trip! We even got to see a monk seal that was sun bathing there at the Beach House Beach.
We were just reliving our trip somewhat this evening as I was putting the pictures into an album. Wish we had some of that weather here in MN!
Overall, we had a great vacation! Thanks so much!
Will keep an eye out for our check in the mail.

Hi Rick and Kathy,
I just wanted to thank you for renting us your wonderful condo at Kuhio Shores.

Hi Rick,
We had a wonderful time and were thrilled with your place. It was well appointed and very well organized. (I am assuming Kathy had a lot to do with that.) I loved every minute of it and am envious that you can go there any time. You have a little piece of paradise there and we hope to return. The whales were performing as were the turtles Many thanks for sharing.

Rick and Kathy, thank you for your email. I have been meaning to write since our return home, unfortunately we had to return to work immediately. Byron and I thoroughly loved Kauai and your wonderful condo. The view alone was fantastic. We immediately felt comfortable and relaxed with all the conveniences of home. It really is a lovely condo. We thank you for the opportunity to rent paradise for the week and hope to return very soon.

Hi Rick and Kathy,
We just wanted to thank you for the use of your condo. We had a wonderful time. We loved the condo, the views, and the snorkeling. I don't think we will ever be able to stay near the water now without having the views we had. We were spoiled!!! All went well. The only negative thing that happened on our trip was my husband lost his wedding ring. We believe it was on the beach or in the water. We don't think it was in the condo. But, if for some reason, someone finds a wedding band, could you let us know? Thanks!!
We will definitely recommend your condo to anyone we know that is planning a trip to Kauai. Thank you so much! It was a vacation we will always remember.
